Vivienne Sinkins and Jon Lee have many years' experience in the care of the elderly. We gain tremendous satisfaction from caring and consider our chosen career to be more of a vocation than a job. We feel that the essence of good care of the elderly springs from an innate respect.

Bracken Court cares for ten elderly residents. We find transfer to a Nursing Home to be quite a rare occurrence and is only considered as a last resort after careful consultation with the resident, GP and family. In this way, residents can feel secure that Bracken Court will remain their home in all but the most exceptional circumstances. Other services include Day Care and Respite Care.

We respect your privacy and dignity at all times. You are free to have visitors in private or in communal rooms at any time. Assistance with washing and dressing is always available and will be discussed with you and your family before admission to determine what sort of care and help you need and feel comfortable with. We can give our assurance, that this area, which is sometimes difficult for residents, will be treated with sensitivity and kindness.

Admission

We understand how difficult it can be to leave your own home, it is therefore our aim to make the transitional period as easy as we possibly can for you.

There are many ways we can do this. Firstly Jon or Vivienne are always available to meet you by appointment in your own home or in hospital to have an informal chat. You can visit Bracken Court at any time to be shown around, meet everyone and perhaps stay for a cup of tea or coffee or a meal if you wish.

Provisions and Services

Bracken Court is located in the Centre of St Leonard's, Exeter. Only 10 minutes walk from Exeter Cathedral and only 10 minutes walk from Exeter City centre.

Fresh Home Cooking by Mrs Sinkins with a varied menu. Special Diets are catered for.

Rooms available with en-suite facilities.

We have regular visits from Hairdressers, Chiropodist, Optician, Dentist, and local Priests (who cater for all denominations)

All residents have use of the stair lift and electric bath hoist.

Aims and Objectives

At Bracken Court Jon, Vivienne, daughter Claire and four other care assistants, aim to create a warm and friendly environment in which you will feel comfortable, secure and at home.

Our aim is to give you freedom of choice in an atmosphere of friendly companionship. We are here to help you at all times.

We take a personal interest in each individual and strive to develop a happy informal life, which provides a background of reassurance and fulfilment for the new and established resident alike.

We aim as far as possible to reserve the usual habits and routines associated with each activity of daily living and to help residents with particular problems in any way we can. We aim to stimulate and encourage residents towards a general feeling of well being.
